The Popularity of Beanie Babies

One of the most popular toys ever with kids is Beanie Babies. They were originally launched in 1993. From the very start they were very popular with people who would often stand in long lines in order to buy them.

The toys might have been named Beanies because of the beans (plastic pellets) that are stuffed inside them.

Beanies Babies in a smaller size were called Teenie Beanies and they were given away at McDonalds. If you purchased a Happy Meal then you would also receive a free Teenie Beanie. At one time a complete set could sell for about $100 on eBay.

From the introduction of the Beanie Baby there were two tags attached to them. The heart shaped “swing tag” and the “tush tag” on the toys bottom. As time went by both the tags have changed. The later generation heart tags also had a poem and birth date.

The creator of Beanies, Ty Warner, had a winning marketing strategy in the beginning that created a lot of excitement and demand for the toys.
Ty kept the price of the toys low so they were affordable to the masses. Just about anyone could afford to spend about five dollars for these cute stuffed toys.

In the beginning production and distribution was limited to only small retailers. Retailers could only order a certain quantity each month. By making them scarce Ty was able to increase the publics demand for them.

Ty would also “retire” them after a few months. To “retire” a Beanie meant that it would no longer be manufactured. This created even more scarcity and demand for the toys.

In 2008 the toys went online and were referred to as 2.0. Ty had a special website for them. It was a short time later that production of the 2.0 Beanies ended because they just werent popular enough with people.

Some of the most notable Beanie Babies among them is Garcia the bear which became popular for its ty-dyed colors.

Decade the bear was also popular and was made in honor of the tenth anniversary of the Beanie Babies.

Beanie Babies went through many changes, but they always remained the most popular soft toy in the marketplace.

Today you can find the Babies anywhere from a small gift shop to big box stores like Target.
The toys popularity and the demand for them decreased as Ty increased the production and distribution outlets for them.

Even though the Beanies arent as popular as they used to be, children still love them. It is hard to find a quality stuffed toy that sells for about five dollars that brings so much joy to people.

Catalog Photography Its role in improving your business

What is the first and foremost thing that you would do if you are planning to showcase your products to a wider audience? The obvious answer is to make a catalog. A catalog is nothing but a platform for you to showcase your products. Customers have the advantage to view the products very easily and quickly. A good catalog inadvertently leads to a spike in sales.

Which brings us to the question, what are the most important components of a good catalog? The Product is obviously the most important aspect of any good catalog. Your product has to be highlighted in the best possible manner and a good photograph will help you achieve this aim. It is only the image of the product that helps a person to either pause and take a longer glance at a product or just flip through the pages uninterestingly. There are a few things that are to be given attention to when taking a good photograph. First and foremost, a good photograph starts with good equipment. Ensure to spend in a good seamless background, adequate studio lighting and a solid camera tripod for camera stability.

Then comes the product; never forget that the product is the hero. The best catalog product photographs feature the product with stunning clarity and neutral back drop. Thus, when you do so, the product jumps from the page, appears larger and seems to be more versatile.

It is best if group photos are avoided. Its found that individual photos produce more sales than group photos.

Try and use the suppliers art sparingly, the main reason behind this is that a supplier does not sell directly to the consumer but sells to you. He need not produce high quality design. Using the suppliers art could have negative effect on the catalog design.

The lighting is also of utmost importance. The typical aim is to give a three dimensional feel to a two dimensional product image, something that would make the viewer want to pick up with his hands. Typical lighting would include powerful strobe lights, special soft lights, reflectors and macro lenses.

What is also important is the mood of the photograph. A good photographer always brings an atmosphere with the products that are showcased. Sometimes, some products need to carry brand image along with the catalog. If that is the case, then ensure that focus is never shifted from this. The atmosphere also plays a crucial part in this kind of photography. The props that are used bring out the environment in a very subtle way.

A catalog is any retailers sales document .He should invest proper time and money on a good photographer, a good photography is many a times the only difference between average sales and path breaking sales. A good photographer always needs to have a keen sense of marketing. He also spends time in understanding the product, understanding the target audience and even the competition in your market.

Catalog photographs are the only way to convince the customer about a products quality and every retailer ought to exploit this aspect of marketing.

If you want to put your photographs on canvas, you need fine art photography. This technique is also called art photography. This is done by combining professional picture styles, colour textures, artistic creativity and special effects of new graphics and technology. This is an authentic art and is not usually used for advertising or other promotions. The fine art photography is used to meet the artistic taste of people. This technique is rightly used by people to make a classy collection of simple photographs or images.

Though we mean very different concept when we say fine art, but fine art photography today is basically about modifying a photograph using the new digital techniques of prints and printing them on canvas in varied styles to make them look classic and awesome. Fine art photography also means the method of clicking and developing photographs in different style. From the beginning of 20th century there was a craze among enthusiast photographers to click something different, something aesthetic, something abstract, and that would be considered art. And you can witness this kind of fine art photography in various museums where photographs of different types are displayed and people flock there to get a taste of this art.

You can get fine art prints of photographs which are taken artistically. The internet is full of sites and galleries of photographers where professional photographers display their images and sell them for prints. The photographs are taken with great vision, angle and use of lenses to get the exact effect. You might have seen some photographs where the images are shows in different shades. This is fine art photography. The photographs which are portrayed artistically can be printed in canvas too.

Photos on canvas would be a great idea to portray some great pictures. This is also a kind of art which has developed a lot over the time. Making photographs similar to paintings is an art. Professional photographers had to work really hard to give shades of painting to their photographs when the new technology of digital printing and graphics were not there. But now the work is done very simply. Even a simple photograph of your child, pet or your wife/husband can have the touch of fine art photography. The prints on canvas can have different styles. If you wish to make something look like retro and exotic, you can choose the colour combination of black and white.

NYC The Photography Lover’s Dream

New York City is a culture enthusiast’s dream, boasting everything from world-class museums and galleries, to a famed theatre and performance arts scene. It’s therefore no wonder that the city draws countless visitors each year, to experience an eclectic mix of cultural treasures alone. One such treasure is undoubtedly found in NYC’s photography galleries, displaying some of the most gripping photographic works in the country.

There are virtually countless venues you can visit to experience New York’s City’s superb photography scene. However, one of the most prominent of the bunch is the International Center of Photography. While small in size – usually displaying three exhibits at any given time – the Center is renowned not only for its photographic pieces, but also for its community programs and lecture series. It’s also popular because, due to its size, visitors are usually able to appreciate every exhibit without feeling rushed.

The Aperture Gallery is another famed spot to enjoy photography displays, boasting Ansel Adams as one of the six founding members of the Aperture Foundation. The gallery also publishes a magazine and a range of books, in addition to holding a number of lectures and panel discussions. Soho Photo and the Photographic Gallery are two others that shouldn’t be missed on an NYC photography tour. Soho Photo was created in the early 1970s as a cooperative for amateur and professional photographers, while the Photographic Gallery focuses on photos pertaining to New York, political issues important to New Yorkers, and the port and marine traditions that shaped the city.

Finally, while the Metropolitan Museum of Art carries a number of forms of artwork, it is home to three well-known photo galleries: a permanent exhibit, the Howard Gilman Gallery, and another with rotating exhibits.

Of course, there’s even more reason for photography lovers to head to NYC. Aside from offering a string of acclaimed photo galleries, the city’s iconic urban landscape beckons photographers to bare their lenses. With everything from a host of towering skyscrapers to the city’s most famous landmark – the Statue of Liberty – there’s always something intriguing for photographers to capture on camera. Another popular spot in the city for photographic opportunities is none other than Central Park – boasting over a square mile of stunning greenery and wildlife.

So, why not plan a trip to NYC to experience the city’s many photographic offerings – and much more? Just remember that if you’re planning to travel to the city during peak seasons – such as summer – you’ll want to make reservations for your New York hotels early, since they can fill up quickly – particularly in the city’s most famed districts.
